ELECTRIC AND HEATING COSTS OUT OF CONTROL? TAKE SOME BACK!

Put On That Sweater! Cut your heating bill by as much as 10 percent by lowering the temperature from 72 degrees to 65 degrees for eight hours a day. Programmable Thermostats: Many can be pre-programmed to maintain a slightly lower temperature while you are away and will automatically adjust when you are expected home! Change Those Filters! People underestimate the value of remembering to change those filters! When the filter becomes full it takes more power to force the air through! Once a month is recommended and there are even services out there that will come do it for you - generally however - there are fewer things around the house that are easier to do yourself. Electronics: Did you know that all those electric gadgets use electricity even when they are turned off? No kidding - but who has time to unplug and replug everything right? Try power strips - with the flip of a single switch you can turn a whole wall of energy eaters off. Keep in mind however - the energy strips and those items with extra large plugs (like your computer's printer, or your cell phone charger) also use extra energy - so unplug them while your at it. Seriously - chances are good if you'll just unplug the large plugs and the strips when they are not needed you'll begin seeing a difference in your bill pretty quick.
